MYSO's Exec. Director Fran Richman to Retire After 24 Years by BWW News Desk(May. 15 7:42 PM) - Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) will soon embark on a new era of leadership. Board President Susan Graham Wernecke and President-elect Patrick Rath announce that Frances Richman will retire as executive director of the organization as of December 31, 2012. She will continue to work with MYSO in the future, in a consulting capacity. |

Alan Gilbert Conducts The New York Philharmonic's 170th Subscription Season's All-Mozart Finale by BWW News Desk(May. 14 2:49 PM) - The New York Philharmonic’s 170th subscription season will conclude with Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, leading the Orchestra in an all- Mozart program: the Mass in C minor, Great, and Piano Concerto No. 22, featuring Emanuel Ax — Honorary Member of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York — as soloist, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. The C-minor Mass will feature performances by soprano Jennifer Zetlan (making her New York Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Paul Appleby (also making his Philharmonic debut), baritone Joshua Hopkins, and the New York Choral Artists, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Zetlan, Ms. Johnson Cano, Mr. Appleby, and Mr. Hopkins will join Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic to perform the C-minor Mass at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival July 27. |

Photo Flash: Alan Gilbert Conducts NY Phil in Walt Disney Concert Hall Debut by BWW News Desk(May. 11 8:55 PM) - Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic, America’s oldest orchestra, came to Walt Disney Concert Hall in the final event of the LA Phil’s 2011/12 Visiting Orchestras series, this Wednesday, May 9. Virtuoso pianist Yefim Bronfman joined the program, performing the West Coast premiere of Piano Concerto No. 2, by New York Philharmonic Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg. Also on the program were Dvorák’s Carnival Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Though Gilbert had previously appeared at Walt Disney Concert Hall (WDCH), most recently during the 2006/07 season, the performance was the New York Philharmonic’s WDCH debut.
