Legendary Broadway Music Director Darren Cohen signs on as Vocal Harmony Specialist and Music Director for The Youth Orchestra of the Low Country's 40th anniversary concert series kickoff performance "Absolutely Andrew".

Mr. Cohen is known in theater circles and beyond acting as Music Director on the original Chorus Line, Chicago, The Fantastiks, and more. He has worked with notable actors and entertainers such as Roslyn Kind, Michael Feinstein, Christine Ebersole, Tom Wopat, Donna McKechnie and Debby Boone.

He will be serving as Vocal Harmony Specialist and Music Director under Ruben Camacho, the Music Director and Conductor of the Youth Orchestra Of the Lowcountry.

"Absolutely Andrew" is a musical tribute to legendary Broadway composer, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, that will feature pieces from each of his Broadway hits including "Evita", "Cats", and "Phantom of the Opera".

The show will partner Broadway performers, Omar Lopez-Cepero ("American Idiot" and "Evita" - pictured above), David Raimo ("Mama Mia", "Cats"), Natalie Douglas (7 time MAC award winner), Amy Decker ("The Will Rogers Follies"), and founding member of Village People; RAndy Jones, with The Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry. The actors and music directors will work closely with the YOLOW musicians during rehearsals and performances and are offering workshops to local schools and arts organization that include: auditioning, vocal warm ups, and dance.

"Absolutely Andrew"; originally arranged by Taras Kovayl (Music Director of "Blood Sweat and Tears" and Liza Minelli) for an 11 piece ensemble, has been specially rearranged for a full 60+ symphony orchestra.

Tickets to this unique and family friendly concert can be purchased at http://www.absolutelyandrew.brownpapertickets.com and will be priced from $15 to $40. "Absolutely Andrew" will be performed at The Sottile Theater, located in historic downtown Charleston, SC, tonight, Nov. 9 and Saturday Nov. 10.

Now in its 40th Season, the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry (aka YOLOW) is the Tri- County area's oldest and most advanced musical youth ensemble. Under the baton of Ruben Camacho, this diverse group of young musicians share a passion for music and the dedication to meet the challenge of performing advanced orchestral repertoire as a full symphony orchestra. According to Mr. Camacho, "We want the beauty and discipline involved in learning and performing orchestral music to be interwoven into a much broader perspective. This program is an asset to our community and has so much untapped potential for enriching the lives of our kids."

YOLOW has a strong set of beliefs that include the measure of a child's talent should hold no relation to demographics, either socio or economic. Music is the art form and is responsible for the creation of pathways to higher learning and lifelong success.
