Chick Corea and Gary Burton Bring HOT HOUSE Tour to Philly, 11/9

Jazz legends, Chick Corea and Gary Burton, come to the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall November 9, 2012 at 8 p.m. The Grammy winning duo will highlight music from their latest collaborative effort, Hot House, featuring the Harlem String Quartet.

Tickets are currently on sale at kimmelcenter.org, 215-893-1999, or at the Kimmel Center Box Office located on Broad and Spruce streets, Philadelphia, Pa. (open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., later on performance evenings). Tickets are available for $45-$65, plus applicable service charges.

Hot House is the seventh collaborative recording from Chick Corea and Gary Burton and walks the line between classic American pop music and jazz modernism. The musically explorative album features a wide range of creativity including new takes on the music of Weill, Monk, Joabim and The Beatle's Lennon and McCartney.

Chick Corea has been one of the most influential figures in jazz since the sixties and is known for his musical curiosity and propensity to explore a wide array of musical projects. Notably, Corea is an individual with a distinctive and recognizable style on the electric jazz keyboard, as well as one of the foremost composers of jazz standards.

Gary Burton's storied career includes not only his work as a renowned Grammy-award winning vibraphonist, but also as a luminary in music education. He taught at the prominent Berklee College of Music and served as Executive Vice President until 2003 when he stepped down after 33 years. Burton tours with multiple acts, but his dynamic and long-standing collaboration with Corea is a main highlight of his career.

The Harlem String Quartet joins Corea and Burton for this performance following collaboration with the duo on tracks on Hot House such as "Mozart Goes Dancing." The Quartet's mission is to advance diversity in classical music as well as engage young and new audiences through a diverse repertoire of works created my minority composers.
