Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra Performs at Severance Hall, 11/11

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, now in its 27th season, performs its first Severance Hall concert of the 2012-13 season. James Feddeck, in his fourth season as music director of the Youth Orchestra, conducts a program that opens with Antonín Dvo?ák's Carnival Overture, Opus 92, followed by Sergei Prokofiev's Suite from Lieutenant Kijé, Opus 60. After intermission, the program concludes with Howard Hanson's Symphony No. 2 ("Romantic"), Opus 30.

FREE CONCERT PRELUDE
Chamber music ensembles from the Youth Orchestra will perform at a Prelude Concert in Reinberger Chamber Hall beginning at 6 p.m. The Prelude program is free to concert ticketholders. Music to be performed on the program will include a movement from a Beethoven String Quartet performed by violinist Joy Regimbal (lives in Hartville and is homeschooled), violinist Serena Shapard (Cleveland Heights / attends Laurel School), violist Dana Mietus (Cuyahoga Falls / Hathaway Brown), and cellist Henry Shapard (Cleveland Heights / University School). The ensemble is coached by Charles Bernard, assistant principal cello of The Cleveland Orchestra. A movement from Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A major, K. 581, will be performed by clarinetist Alexandria Ballinger (Mansfield / Lexington High School), violinist Maria Beltavski (Cleveland / homeschooled), violinist Claire Geho (Twinsburg / homeschooled), violist Sara Friedberg (Cleveland Heights / Cleveland Heights High School), and cellist Sameer Apte (Shaker Heights / Shaker Heights High School). The ensemble is coached by Eli Matthews, first assistant principal second violin of The Cleveland Orchestra.

Each of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra's concerts this season is to be broadcast on later dates by WCLV 104.9 FM. The November 11 concert is scheduled to be broadcast at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013, and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013.
