Khatia Buniatishvili made her piano debut at the young age of six in Tbilisi, Georgia and was invited to play internationally as a guest performer in Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Russia, Israel, and America. On Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m., the Mesa Arts Center welcomes one of the most talented pianists in the world into the Piper Repertory Theater. Introduced to the piano at as a child by her mother, Khatia became instantly recognized after her orchestral debut. After transferring, she won third prize at the 12th Arthur Rubinstein Competition in 2008 and was named the Best Performer of a Chopin Piece as well as declared the Audience Favorite. She subsequently appeared at a multitude of top festivals including, but not limited to, Verbier Festival, Gstaad Festival, and the Saratoga Festival. Khatia also performed with the Israel Philharmonic, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Khatia Buniatishvili made her American debut in 2008 when she dazzled audiences at Carnegie Hall playing the Chopin Piano Concerto No 2. The following year she performed the Mendelssohn Double Concerto with Gidon Kremer at the Musikverein Vienna and then toured with him and the Kremerata Baltica to Milan, Rome, Pavia, and Istanbul. She was named a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist in 2009-2011 and has regularly collaborated with BBC orchestras. She received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2010 and has also signed an exclusive recording contract with Sony. Mesa Arts Center is so excited to have a wildly talented and beautiful international performer appear on a local stage.
