David Gindler Named Chairman of LA Master Chorale Board of Directors

David Gindler has been named Chairman of the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC), one of the world's preeminent choirs and the resident chorus of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Hancock Park resident, whose three-year term began May 21, has served on the Chorale's Board of Directors since 2008. He is a partner at the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP, where he specializes in complex commercial litigation.

Gindler succeeds Mark Foster, who served as chairman for eight years and continues on the Chorale's Board of Directors as the newly appointed Vice Chair for The Music Center, representing LAMC on The Music Center Foundation Board of Directors. Foster was honored at the Chorale's gala last fall for his dedicated service to the organization.

"It is a great pleasure for us to announce David's election to this important role," says LAMC President and CEO Terry Knowles. "He has a compelling vision for the Chorale's future, an energizing and empowering leadership style, and a keen business sense. He will be a tremendous ambassador for the Chorale in our community, and I eagerly look forward to working with him at a very exciting time for the LA Master Chorale."

Adds Knowles, "We are deeply grateful to Mark Foster for his dedicated leadership and service to the Chorale. His tremendous passion, deep commitment and sage guidance provided a foundation essential to the Chorale's incredible artistic and fiscal growth during the eight years he served as chairman. We are also delighted that he remains on the Chorale's Board, serving as liaison to the Music Center Foundation."

Says Gindler, "It is an honor to serve as chairman of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, whose artistry has inspired and elevated me since the first time my wife, Kiki, and I heard the choir perform in Walt Disney Concert Hall. I look forward to working with Terry Knowles and my dedicated Board colleagues to help realize Music Director Grant Gershon's amazing artistic vision and ensure that the Chorale maintains its well deserved stature at the pinnacle of the choral music field."

David Gindler is a partner at the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP, located in Century City, where he specializes in complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on patent, trade secret and related intellectual property disputes. His work spans a broad array of industries and technologies, ranging from biotechnology, medical devices, computer architecture, microprocessor design and advanced semiconductor materials. Gindler has represented both established and emerging commercial and non-profit organizations, including MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, Aon Corporation, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Columbia University and City of Hope National Medical Center. David was one of the principal trial attorneys in City of Hope National Medical Center v. Genentech, Inc., in which his client, City of Hope, obtained a verdict including $302 million in compensatory damages for Genentech's failure to pay royalties owed on fundamental patented technology that helped to create the biotechnology industry. The $302 million compensatory damages award was upheld by both the California Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court, and is the largest jury verdict ever affirmed in a published California appellate decision. Gindler is also highly regarded for representing technology, entertainment, and multimedia companies and leading financial institutions in hotly contested matters concerning the protection of trade secrets and related rights. Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine has selected Gindler for inclusion in Southern California "Super Lawyers" every year the list has been published. He also appears in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Intellectual Property Law.
