David Robertson will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct the U.S. Premiere ofTristan Murail's Le Désenchantement du monde, Symphonic Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, a New York Philharmonic Co-Commission with Bavarian Radio, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, performed by Pierre-Laurent Aimard. The program will also include Messiaen's Les Offrandes oubliées; Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 also with Mr. Aimard as soloist; and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Robertson has previously conducted and recorded Mr. Murail's works, and Mr. Aimard -
who performed the World Premiere of Le Désenchantement du monde with the Bavarian Radio
Symphony Orchestra in May 2012 - has known Mr. Murail for three decades. Mr. Murail
completed Le Désenchantement du monde shortly after pondering the question "can one still
write for the piano today?" and the work is paired with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23. The
program also juxtaposes Mr. Murail's work with Les Offrandes oubliées by his former teacher,
Messiaen.

Tickets for these concerts start at $43. Tickets for Open Rehearsals are $18. Pre-Concert Talks are $7; discounts are available for multiple concerts, students, and groups (visit
nyphil.org/preconcert for more information). All other tickets may be purchased online at

Sunday.
