Gustavo Dudamel, Leif Ove Andsnes and the LA Phil Begin Beethoven Journey Tonight, 10/4

Gustavo Dudamel, Leif Ove Andsnes and the LA Phil Begin Beethoven Journey Tonight, 10/4

Celebrated Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes joins Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a three-year traversal of Beethoven's music for piano and orchestra, including the five numbered concertos and the Choral Fantasy.

Although Andsnes has an extensive repertoire spanning from Bach to the present day, he will devote the majority of his performing and recording activities over the next several seasons to the music of Beethoven. Each of Andsnes' performances with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall will coincide with the pianist's Beethoven Journey recordings. Andsnes' first Beethoven recording ever, The Beethoven Journey, Piano Concertos No. 1 & 3, was released on September 11, 2012, and it is these two concertos that he will perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The concerts tonight, October 4 and October 5 will open with Piano Concerto No. 1, and the concerts on October 6 and 7 will open with Piano Concert No. 3.

Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic will close all four programs with a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica."

Complete program:
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 1 (Oct. 4, Oct. 5)
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 3 (Oct. 6, Oct. 7)
