Gustavo Dudamel Presents AMERICAS AND AMERICANS Hollywood Bowl Festival, Now thru 8/19

Gustavo-Dudamel-Presents-AMERICAS-AND-AMERICANS-Hollywood-Bowl-Festival-814-19-20010101

Inspired by the 2009/10 inaugural Americas and Americans festival at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Music Director Gustavo Dudamel presides over a new edition of the Americas and Americans festival at the Hollywood Bowl from tonight, August 14, 2012 to Sunday, August 19, 2012. In keeping with his long-standing belief that barriers can be broken through art, Americas and Americans brings to life Dudamel's global vision of a multi-cultural community unified by music.

"This festival is one that is meant to link us as a people so that borders dissolve, and we find those common threads and musical moments which unite North and South America as one. This is our music," says Dudamel.

The program for the Americas and Americans festival is as follows:

Iconic Panamanian singer-actor-politician Ruben Blades makes his only West Coast appearance at the Hollywood Bowl performing with Puerto Rican pianist Eddie Palmieri and his Salsa Orchestra. He will be sharing the stage with Palmieri for the first time ever in North America.

Nine-time Grammy Award winner and Latin music icon Eddie Palmieri was recently distinguished as a 2013 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, the nation's highest honor in Jazz. He joins the ranks of musical legends who have made major contributions to jazz, such as MiLes Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and George Benson.
