Hector Coris' Acclaimed Cabaret Show LIFE IS WONDERFUL. Returns To Don't Tell Mama's 9/ 8 and 10/1

Award-winning NYC cabaret performer Hector Coris brings his debut solo show Life is Wonderful. at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788; www.donttellmamanyc.com). Show dates are Tuesday, September 8th @ 7:15PM and Sunday, October 11th @ 6:30PM. There is a $12 cover charge plus a 2-drink minimum. (Members of MAC, AEA, and Cabaret Hotline Online - $10 cover.) Long a fixture in musical revues on NYC cabaret stages, Hector makes his solo debut. In Life is Wonderful., Hector explores the musicality of mortality through the words and music of Ben Folds, Kander and Ebb, Zoe Lewis, Susan Werner, Brett Kristofferson, David Caldwell, My Chemical Romance, William Finn and other contemporary songwriters. Musical direction is by Ray Bailey, with direction by Angela Shultz. Dale Henderson joins on cello. Life is Wonderful. premiered in May 2009 to sold out houses at Don't Tell Mama.

HECTOR CORIS (Vocals). Hector is a multiple-award winning songwriter and performer, having recently debuted his latest musical comedy revue, What's The Point?! (2009 MAC Award nominee - Outstanding Revue/Special Production) at The Reprise Room to rave notices. Previous original revues include Not Me!, What's Your Problem?! and Coris of Disapproval. Hector has appeared on nearly every cabaret stage in NYC - most notably in Rene Foss' Around the World in a Bad Mood and Rick Crom's Our Life & Times (MAC & BISTRO Awards). His directing credits include the first ever NYC revivals of Bring Back Birdie (2007 MAC Award nomination) The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public for Opening Doors Theatre Company, Under the Influence, and Coris of Disapproval (Short Attention Span Musical Theatre Festival Award - Audience Favorite). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC). He is the recipient of the Jeff Matson Award, given by Cabaret Hotline, for his outstanding contributions to NYC cabaret. www.HectorCoris.com.

RAY BAILEY (Musical Director). Ray has been composing and directing music for theatre since he was a thirteen-year-old in southeastern Virginia. After graduating from Yale (where he later appeared as a voice coach and music director at the School of Drama), he continued this pursuit in theatres up and down the east coast, entertaining four presidents (three American and one Russian) in the process. Now that he's settled in New York, he sings regularly at Trinity Church, Wall Street and with the award-winning Antioch Chamber Ensemble; and is a core member of the cabaret-circus-pop outfit Autobahn-da-Fe. Last summer, he wrote arrangements and provided musical direction for the off-Broadway production of Perfect Harmony at the Clurman Theatre.
DALE HENDERSON (Cello). Award-winning cellist Dale Henderson began playing cello at age five, and by seven was performing regularly as a soloist. He earned a BA from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2000, and has since been performing across the country in an effort to introduce classical music (particularly the Bach Solo Cello Suites) to as many people as possible. He recently moved to New York City to continue this effort.

ANGELA SHULTZ (Director) is an active performer and voice teacher. Favorite directing credits include Carousel; Fools; Godspell; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and Matt and Ben. She has also music directed Little Shop of Horrors, Quilters, The Secret Garden, Godspell, and Once on this Island to name a few. As a voice teacher, she worked at Stages St. Louis and Fontbonne University and in her own studio. As a cabaret artist, Angela has appeared at The Metropolitan Room (MetroStar Competition Top 5), Laurie Beechman Theatre, Reprise Room, Don't Tell Mama and The Duplex as well as in the Midtown International Theatre Festival and Sheldon Concert Hall (St. Louis). Favorite regional roles include: Bat Boy (Ruthie), Nunsense (Rev Mo and Hubert), The Secret Garden (Martha), Godspell (Joanne and Sonia) and Woman 2 in Closer Than Ever. Angela performed in master classes with Barbara Cook, Sally Mayes, Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen.
