Icicle Creek Center for the Arts Hosts 7th Annual Piano Festival, 1/16-20

An exciting lineup of award winning pianists will present a classical "musical feast" of concerts and master classes during Icicle Creek's 7th Annual Piano Festival, January 16-20, 2013.

Two concerts, on January 19th and 20th, will mark the close of a week of extraordinary work by Piano Festival faculty and emerging artists. Directed by Icicle Creek's resident pianist Oksana Ezhokina, ICCA's Piano Festival annually welcomes up to 12 advanced pre-professional pianists for an intensive week of private lessons, masterclasses, and recitals.

The Faculty Concert on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m., will feature Gilbert Kalish, Christina Dahl, Seth Knopp, and Oksana Ezhokina, performing the works of Haydn, Schumann, Grieg, Rachmaninoff and Schubert. Tickets are $20 ($16 seniors & $8 students). The Young Artist Concert will be Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. and is free of charge.

Masterclasses are scheduled for January 18, 19 & 20, at 11 a.m. each day. They are FREE and open to the public. Both concerts and the three master classes will take place in Canyon Wren Recital Hall at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. Reservations are not required for masters classes.

The 2013 Winter Piano Festival faculty:

Christina Dahl: Piano Faculty at Stony Brook University, New York; she has been a cultural ambassador for the US State Department and has recorded for the Bridge, Albany and Tzadik labels.

Seth Knopp: Founding member of the Peabody Piano Trio; Artistic Director of Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival and School; Faculty member in piano and chamber music at Peabody Conservatory.

Gilbert Kalish: Professor of Piano and Director of Performance Activities at Stony Brook University; Noted for his partnerships with mezzo-soprano Jan DeGaetani, cellists Timothy Eddy and Joel Krosnick, and soprano Dawn Upshaw; A world-renown soloist and chamber musician, Kalish has a discography of some 100 recordings, encompassing classical repertory, 20th-century masterworks and new compositions.

Oksana Ezhokina: Artistic Director at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts and pianist of the Volta Piano Trio; piano faculty at Pacific Lutheran University.
