The Mercer County Symphonic Band will present its annual Winter Concert at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. The theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Admission is free.

Under the direction of Dr. Lou Woodruff, the Mercer County Symphonic Band is celebrating its 32nd season with 60 participating musicians, with ages spanning seven decades. Dr. Woodruff, who is completing his twelfth year as the band's director, will share the podium with Gary Suabedissen, a flautist who has earned a regional reputation as an outstanding performer, educator and conductor.

The 2012 Winter Concert program includes a variety of seasonal favorites, contemporary, classical and pops selections, and traditional marches. Included are "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Moussorgsky, selections from the movie "E.T.," works by contemporary composer Clifton Williams and pops composer Leroy Anderson, and a swing medley from Benny Goodman. The evening ends with the band's traditional seasonal sing along.

The Mercer County Symphonic Band is supported by the Arts and Communication Division of Mercer County Community College, with funding from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission, through a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

The Mercer County Symphonic Band is open to all interested musicians without audition. The band performs at community events, holiday celebrations, MCCC's graduation ceremony, and other venues open to the public. For more information, visit the band's website at www.MercerBand.org.
