Met Museum presents the New York Philharmonic's concert series CONTACT!, Jordi Savall's "Orient-Occident: A Dialogue of Souls," and New York ensemble Cirène's interpretation of a classic love story of the Middle East with music, dance and painting, all this month, June 2012. See details below.

New York Philharmonic CONTACT!David Robertson Leads Elliott Carter World Premiere

The New York Philharmonic’s acclaimed new music series, CONTACT! returns for a third season of two programs curated and hosted by Philharmonic Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg, with Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert and David Robertson conducting.

In this second program of the season, David Robertson conducts the world premiere performance of Elliott Carter’s Two Controversies and a Conversation (New York Philharmonic co-commission with Aldeburgh Festival and Radio France), a double concerto with piano and percussion, with featured players Colin Currie, percussion, and Eric Huebner, piano; as well as the U.S. premiere of NACHLESE Vb: Liederzyklus, a musical meditation on the nature of linguistic translation, by Michael Jarrell (New York Philharmonic co-commission with Ensemble Contrechamps), featuring soprano Charlotte Dobbs. Also on the program is the contemporary classic ...explosante/fixe... by Pierre Boulez, for which soloists include Principal Flute Robert Langevin on MIDI flute, Philharmonic flutist Mindy Kaufman, and flutist Alexandra Sopp.

A reception with free beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery will follow the concert. Tickets: $20.
