Mo Rocca Joins Chelsea Symphony for Annual Holiday Concert Tonight

Mo Rocca Joins Chelsea Symphony for Annual Holiday Concert Tonight

The Chelsea Symphony announces the third concert series of the orchestra's seventh season with a performance tonight, December 7 at 8 PM at St. Paul's Church, 315 West 22nd Street, New York NY 10011.

The program will showcase a world premiere by Chelsea Symphony composer Seth Bedford entitled In a Snowy Day: Poem for Orchestra, as well as Chelsea Symphony resident composer Aaron Dai's The Night Before Christmas, narrated by special guest Mo Rocca. Mr. Rocca continues a tradition established in 2006, and follows in the footsteps of past guest narrators Richard Kind, Ana Gasteyer, David Hyde Pierce, Charles Busch, Andrea Martin, and Rachel Dratch. The program also includes Bach's Concerto for Two Violins (Annelies Mast, Ashley Windle), Hummel's Trumpet Concerto (Julie Desbordes), and Brahms' Variations on a Theme of Haydn. The concert will be conducted by Chelsea Symphony co-founder Yaniv Segal, as well as by the newest member of the conducting staff, Reuben Blundell.

The concert is FREE with a SUGGESTED DONATION of $20 accepted at the door.

The Chelsea Symphony, hailed as "a daring orchestral experiment" by Chelsea Now, continues to defy categorization. The young orchestra has recently expanded its reach in NYC with performances at Bargemusic, Fashion Week and Lincoln Center. Founded in November of 2005, it is a vibrant 50-piece ensemble in which orchestra members rotate as a featured artists: conductors, composers, or soloists. The Chelsea Symphony is a non-profit, self-governing group of gifted musicians dedicated to producing performances of the highest quality and showcasing fellow orchestra members as conductors, soloists and composers. The organization aims to be a cultural focus for Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood and to present vibrant concerts of inspiring symphonic music both old and new.
