Pianists Vladimir Feltsman and Jon Kimura Parker Replace Denis Matsuev at Ravinia, 7/29-30

Jon Kimura Parker and Vladimir Feltsman will step in for Denis Matsuev, who has cancelled his July 29 and July 30 Ravinia performances due to illness. Parker will perform a Martin Theatre recital at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, in a program featuring Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No. 3; his own arrangement of music from Stravinsky's Petrushka; Rachmaninoff' Prelude in G Minor; and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Vladimir Feltsman will perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor, Op. 23, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. The concert repertoire remains the same, and the program includes Ravinia Music Director James Conlon conducting an all-Tchaikovsky program including Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36, and the annual Ravinia presentation of the "1812"Overture, which includes live cannons timed to the music.

Parker has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra and Philadelphia Orchestra, and throughout London, New York, Chicago, Munich, Budapest, and Hong Kong. Parker last appeared at Ravinia in 2006.

Feltsman has been recognized as one of the most diversified conductors and pianists of the 21st century and has performed in many of the world's most renowned concert halls. Feltsman will also be making another appearance at Ravinia on Aug. 15 in the Martin Theatre, performing piano works by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Scriabin.

Artists and programs are subject to change. The Ravinia Festival Box Office will be pleased to work with customers who wish to exchange their tickets for another date, subject to availability, by calling 847-266-5100. For more information, visit www.ravinia.org. Ravinia Festival is a not-for-profit organization.
