THE SELDON Announces 2009-2010 Season Of Concerts With Jazz, Folk & More

The Sheldon is proud to announce the 2009 - 2010 season of outstanding concerts in the intimate and acoustically perfectSheldon Concert Hall. As usual, the season includes five series - Jazz at The Sheldon, Fantastic Folk, Sheldon Classics,Saturday Matinees, and Coffee Concerts, as well as Special Concerts and educational programming - all available starting May 13 at 10 a.m.

The Sheldon is also pleased to announce that subscription ticket prices will not increase this year, and will beheld at the same levels as last season. Among the artists scheduled for the season are Dee Dee Bridgewater, Bettye LaVette,Marty Stuart, Patty Loveless, David Halen, Nicholas Payton, Chad & Jeremy, and Blind Boys of Alabama.

The Sheldon will also continue to offer the popular "Choose Your Own Series," designed for busy music lovers whoseschedule makes it difficult to attend all concerts in a particular series. "All- Access" tickets, which provide premium seating,free parking, use of the Patrons Lounge, and a backstage pass, will also be available. "The Sheldon Sessions," aimed atcollege students and young professionals and co-presented with KDHX 88.1 FM. will also be scheduled.

More information about artists and on-sale dates will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the Jazz at The Sheldon series are $198 orchestra / $175 balcony, Fantastic Folk series tickets are $175 orchestra / $155 balcony, Sheldon Classics series tickets are $75 orchestra / $60 balcony, Coffee Concerts are $55 orchestra / $45balcony, and Saturday Matinee tickets are $20 per adult subscription ticket / $10 per child.

All new subscriptions will go on sale Wednesday, May 13 and sales will continue through the first concert in each series. Tickets to any of the special concertsmay be purchased with a subscription order prior to the single ticket on sale date of August 8, 2009. Saturdays at 8 p.m. Dee Dee Bridgewater - "Lady Day" October 3, 2009 Tribute to Billie Holiday Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist and host of NPR's JazzSet, Dee Dee Bridgewater focuses her talents on musicimmortalized by jazz great Billie Holiday.

A professional musician since the age of 12, trumpeter Nicholas Payton returns to The Sheldon with a style that embraceshis New Orleans upbringing, while reaching for new levels of maturity and sophistication in his performance. Paytonrecently toured the nation with Bill Charlap, Ravi Coltrane and Steve Wilson to celebrate the Blue Note record label's 70 th anniversary, and has worked with other jazz greats including Wynton and Ellis Marsalis, Elvin Jones, and Ray Brown. $40 orchestra/$35 balconyEliane Elias
