The Killer Bs will perform at Roswell UMC (814 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA) today, March 10 at 3:00 PM, featuring Michael O'Neal, conductor, John LaForge, associate conductor, and Tom Alderman, principal accompanist.
This Killer Bs program is a celebration of some of our finest composers whose last names begin with "B." Think Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Britten, and Bernstein, and you'll be on the right track! The Michael O'Neal Singers perform some of the finest selections from each of the above musical giants.
The concert will begin with the final chorale, "Now Let Every Tongue Adore Thee," from J.S. Bach's famous Cantata #140, Wachet auf, followed by Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb (Op. 30), which is based on poetry by Christopher Smart. The program continues with Nänie (Op. 82) by Johannes Brahms. The text by Friedrich Schiller laments the inevitability of death and includes some of Brahms' most beautiful music. Leonard Bernstein is then represented with his amazing Chichester Psalms , an exquisite setting of selected Hebrew scripture set for chorus, SATB soloists, a treble soloist from the Georgia Boy Choir, and organ, harp and percussion. The concert will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven's joyous "Hallelujah" from his oratorio Christ on the Mount of Olives (Op. 85).
