The Moscow Ballet Presents THE GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER At The Fox Theatre 12/23

Moscow Ballet is set to perform its GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts on December 23, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. ONE NIGHT ONLY! World-renowned Moscow Ballet is celebrating its 16th consecutive year of the GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER tour by performing in 70 cities across the U.S. and Canada.

GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER

Featuring spectacular sets and beautifully costumed Russian dancers, Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker is a holiday treat for the whole family. Whimsical and imaginative storytelling blends with the richness of Russian classical dance to make the Great Russian Nutcracker a unique performance not to be missed!

Choreographer Anatoli Emelianov has been praised by critics for his unique setting of Act II in the "Land of Peace and Harmony." To convey his message of peace, Emelianov incorporates an ethereal dove that escorts Masha and the Prince to a land where there is no war and suffering.

Set against Valentin Fedorov's spectacular scenic design, with dancing, larger-than-life puppets and hand-painted backdrops of unicorns, exotic birds and animals, Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker is a visual delight.

ABOUT MOSCOW BALLET

This year's tour stars the ballet world's Prima Ballerina, Cristina Terentieva and her partner Alexei. Cristina is a Gold Medalist of the 2008 Varna International Ballet Competition where Vladimir Vasiliev of the Bolshoi bestowed upon her the highest honors. Also starring in our Great Russian Nutcracker is the award winning couple Akzhol Mussakhanov and Ekaterina Bortykova. The cast features luminaries of the Perm, Vaganova, Moscow State Academic Choreographic and Kiev schools.

Moscow Ballet continues its commitment to making a difference in the arts. The Company has local children audition in each market to appear with the Russian dancers on the tours. Last year, more than 6,000 children in North America performed with Moscow Ballet as part of its educational outreach campaign, "Celebrating Children...The Arts Can Make a Difference." This year's La Mirada Theatre performance will feature over 30 ballet students and is being coordinated by McCoy Rigby Dance Academy in Yorba Linda, CA.

MOSCOW BALLET'S GREAT RUSSIAN NUTCRACKER will perform for one night only on December 23, 2009 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $70, $50 and $40. Children 12 and under save 25%.
