The Stan Kenton Tribute Orchestra Plays the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Tonight

The Stan Kenton Tribute Orchestra Plays the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Tonight

Tonight, November 16, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild is inviting local music lovers to experience Kenton's innovative sound with the Stan Kenton Tribute Orchestra, sponsored by Kretzer Piano. This high-energy tribute orchestra will play all of the Kenton jazz classics, featuring "Artistry in Rhythm," "Intermission Riff," and many more!

A pioneer who has strongly influenced modern American life, Kenton was a pianist, composer and arranger whose music changed the dynamic of the jazz scene during the '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s.

"We are extremely energized about our 10th Anniversary season of dynamic season shows and limited engagements – and the always-thrilling big band sound of Stan Kenton is sure to get anyone 'in rhythm' with live theatre," said Andrew Kato, the Theatre's producing artistic director. "We invite everyone to come and experience the magic of this incredible tribute."

The orchestra is under the leadership of Fort Lauderdale musician Dennis Noday, a classically-trained musician who led the trumpet section and played flugelhorn with the Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson Orchestras for a decade, recording ten double albums with Kenton and four with Ferguson. He has played for a number of highly successful Broadway musicals and recorded a number of television soundtracks, including Quincy, M.E., The Incredible Hulk and Hawaii Five-0

Proceeds from the concert will directly benefit the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts, which offers a challenging, innovative and quality theatre experience to students of all ages and abilities. In addition to a full schedule of classes, the Conservatory's workshops and master classes offer students an opportunity to learn first-hand about the world of theatre from nationally-known composers and performers, agents and local instructors.

"We are incredibly grateful for this fundraising effort by our Guild, whose members support our Conservatory in so many ways – including providing scholarships for local students," said Julie Rowe, the Theatre's director of education. "We are very proud to be able to provide scholarships to one out of every four of our Conservatory students."

Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and all tickets are $40. For tickets, call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit www.jupitertheatre.org.
