Vanessa Williams Hosts Los Angeles Philharmonic Concert, 1/9

Actress/singer/stage star Vanessa Williams has been confirmed to host the first live theater screening of a Los Angeles Philharmonic concert led by Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, Sunday, January 9, 2011, at 2 p.m. Pacific/5 p.m. Eastern.

The screenings are produced as a result of collaboration between the LA Phil and NCM Fathom, a division of National CineMedia (NCM), and Cineplex Entertainment.

"I'm thrilled to be working with the LA Phil on this exciting new venture to bring classical music to a larger audience," said Williams.

LA Phil LIVE with Gustavo Dudamel from Walt Disney Concert Hall is an immersive sight and sound experience, featuring full concert performances with the LA Phil and Dudamel, broadcast live from the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall. The concert will air in more than 450 theaters across the U.S. and Canada and the screening will also include behind-the-scenes interviews with Dudamel, soloists and the LA Phil musicians, rehearsal footage and a live post-concert Q&A with Dudamel.

The January 9 concert is the first of three programs to be broadcast in theaters this season. The remaining concerts include an all-Tchaikovsky program interspersed with performances by actors reading related Shakespeare texts (March 13, 2011, 2 p.m. Pacific/5 p.m. Eastern) and an all-Brahms program (June 5, 2011, 2 p.m. Pacific/5 p.m. Eastern).

Grammy, Emmy and Tony-nominated Vanessa Williams currently stars in ABC's "Desperate Housewives."
