Women's Board of Ravinia Festival Accepts Poster Design Submissions for 2013; Deadline 11/28

Currently celebrating their 50th anniversary year, the Women's Board of Ravinia Festival has announced details of their annual poster design competition for high school and college students around the world. The winning design will promote the festival's 2013 season and will be produced and sold at the two Ravinia Gifts locations in the park as well as online at shop.ravinia.org next summer. The winning artist will receive a $1,000 prize, second place will be awarded $500 and third place will receive $250. In addition, an honorarium of $500 will be given to the instructor of the winning student.

This year artists may choose to include a theme representing the 25th anniversary of Ravinia's Steans Music Institute (RSMI), the festival's summer music conservatory for young professional classical and jazz musicians. Work that features original drawing, painting or graphic design will be favorably regarded. Readily available computer-generated images without significant creative interpretation are discouraged.

Entries must be delivered no later than Wednesday, Nov. 28, to Ravinia Festival at 418 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL 60035. Participants must be registered high school or college students and can submit only one entry per person. Official judging will take place on Dec. 3 at Ravinia Festival and winners will be notified the following week.

The annual poster and its principal design become a distinctive signature of the Ravinia season. It conveys the rich experience of enjoying outstanding musical performances in North America's oldest outdoor summer music venue and incorporates design principles appropriate for promotional purposes and commercial display.

For more information or to download instructions on submitting a poster entry, visit www.ravinia.org/poster2013.aspx. Ravinia Festival is a not-for-profit organization.
